about

The material on Loss originally existed as two distinct albums, both created in 2005 utilising a similar combination of guitar drones, sound design and a heavy amount of field recordings. This material also represents the decision I made to return to the guitar as my primary instrument, although not before my noise blowout on "In Which We Burn" where I used nearly means under the sun for creating sounds.

During this period I was experimenting with a more digitized guitar sound that I quickly moved away from. Apart from these tracks having nagged away in my mind as not being up to scratch for many years, and an inferior sound mix that has only recently been corrected, structurally, for one reason or another the pieces did not quite work across two albums and they were shelved permanently (with the exception of a version that was briefly offered for download). It was not until removing two tracks that worked better on another release, and merging the rest into one album that they felt like a complete work that documented my activities during that period. This is the definitive version of Loss that I'm truly happy with, featuring the original cover art that was lost for several years, and a far superior sound quality remastered and touched up.

ZAC KEILLER Melbourne, Australia

Zac Keiller is an Australian musician discovering new and unique sonic textures from one of the most overused and unimaginatively approached instruments in Western music: The guitar. The compositions vary and grow to tell stories and create mood, with an atmosphere in parts epic wall of sound, while at others minimal and sublime. ... more
